This link is great — not for the Gossip Girl* stuff or the porny shot of one of its stars, but for the incongruous video below all that of Jerry Orbach singing the "September" song from The Fantasticks, cabaret-style. Aw!

*Gossip Girl is like cheesecake. I don't doubt that it's a lovely guilty pleasure for those who like it, but I have plenty of other fattening desserts/cheesy television shows to indulge in, so why force myself to like this particular one? It's not like The Wire or tilapia, something I really should force to try since it's supposed to be good for you.

Also I really, really hate watching privileged teenagers.

Saw a film for the Tribeca Film Festival this weekend, called The 27 Club, about a fictional musician OD-ing on his 27th birthday to join Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain in the group of rockstars who died at that age. DUDE. 'Dying young' has gone in my head from "dying in your teens or twenties" to "dying in your early forties," and I'm glad I didn't know about that weird coincidence before my 27th birthday.

I read that New York mag article about Gossip Girl and their point-by-point explanation of how and why this show is important or interesting in some way did not in any way justify itself. I know it's not really worth hating, so I can't really say I hate the show (also only having seen the first two episodes)... but I think it's OK to say that I hated that article. I may post about this later.

Didn't read the article, haven't seen more than maybe 15 minutes, tops, of the show, but I get such a (bad) visceral reaction from it.

My dislike started with how it replaced—and employs!—the awesome Veronica Mars, and ran from there. Again, I like "worse" shows, when it comes to objective storytelling quality, but rich-ass teens just bug the crap out of me.

Also, the very reason I thought Blake Lively was good in the Traveling Pants movie—her awkward, real-teenager-ish marble-mouthedness—makes her seem wrong for a fantasy rich bitch to me.

Your reaction is, from everything I've seen, as completely justified as NY's "best teen drama ever!!!111" claim isn't (they don't even seem to be sure if this claim is joking or not; they don't actually compare it to other, similar shows so much as mention some other, similar shows. OK, I definitely need to make this its own post).

I never saw much of The O.C. either, but nearest I can tell, Gossip Girl lacks an Adam Brody character which would be toxic for me on a soap.

Speaking of pants, the director of the sequel did Something New... so maybe it will be better than the trailer indicates.
